Bazo - I hope that’s the case - especially as it was VLM 2019 I did the time in!

I didn't think GFA entry for 2020 opened until after VLM 2019 was run, so also confused why you used the 2018 result for the GFA entry JR? But as others have said, if VLM ask you for evidence of GFA eligibility for 2021 you've already got it so that should be OK.

Maybe I’m getting mixed up. I definitely used a 2 year old time for one London due to changing age category / maybe it was the 2019 race that affected. Getting older makes you get confused more easily! :)

There was a curiosity in the age/ times a few years ago that meant if you changed age group in 2019 for example you could use still use a time from 2018 and get a greater chance of beating the cut off.

eg.
run 2:59 as under 40 in 2018
run 3:01 as v40 in 2019
Then you'd enter for 2020 using the 2:59 time but with the 3:05 qualification time would put you with 6 minutes under the qualification so easily making any extra cut-offs.

Under the new system if using the 2018 time then you'd only be 1 minute under the qualification of sub3 for under 40, but if using the 2019 time you'd be 4 minutes under the qualification as the age when you ran the time would count rather than the age when the event you are entering takes place.

They changed this a couple of years ago now though.

Spiedog - I think that was it. I ran a 3:35 aged 49.75! I then ran a 3:55 as a fv50. I was worried my fv50 would be too slow if they lowered time so used my 3:35 as an fv45 time from the year before for GFA although I was an FV50 by the time VLM came round. I then ran around 3:45 as an fv50 at London.

As in they lowered qualifying time if too many people applied in my age category when they stopped automatic GFA even with the time. Confused? I am! :)

There was a massive jump in the number of female GFA places allocated for 2020. Wasn't over subscribed at all previously, then for this year it was a 4:15 minutes extra below the qualification times compared to 2:40 for the men.

So yes, that makes sense now as the 3:35 would give you a massive 14 minutes in hand despite being for a younger category.

Someone else isn't convinced that pre 2019 qualified GFA/ Championship people will automatically get a place for 2021 even if they have times from 2019 and has created a petition for it:

Anyone have any ideas about what their supplementary evidence will consist of if you want to use the virtual time for gfa/ championship? I’ve managed to get very fit and would really like to gun for a pb. But wondering if they’ll have route requirements etc. I’d imagine a treadmill is out as well
