Pothunter
As expected my email arrived not long after posting here. The power of Fetch? :-)

Have entered the virtual run. Will probably regret it because I’m undertrained right right now but I figured it will provide some incentive and I don’t need to race it anyway.

Mine too Pothunter.

Spideog - again I feel the same, if I’m still capable of running marathons I should manage GFA times (and have one for last year) so would want my guaranteed entry to be for next year.

I’m confused - I used a 2018 time for GFA entry but subsequently ran a quicker time at VLM 2019 - will I have to run another GFA as although used my 2018 time on the entry I have subsequently run a faster time in 2019?

You should be able to use your 2019 time for your next GFA application JR.

I had a GFA place for 2020 so will I be guaranteed entry for 2921? I am just wondering if I’ll have to submit another time or they’ll say I can use my 2929 GFA app as I used a 2018 time? Hopefully all will become clearer soon! I suspect they are being deliberately confusing in order to get as more signed up for their £20 virtual race & then confirm ref GFA. A cynic may say it was a deliberate move to get more money in......

Oops 2021 not 2921! Given I’m not getting any younger I really don’t want to defer to 2022 or 2023.

If you entered GFA with a 2018 time then they will need something else before you can get a confirmed 2021 place. Not yet certain what that is, one option will be run the virtual event on 4th October in a time quicker than those listed on the GFA page for your age group.

Hopefully they will also accept a similar time from a run done in 2019 though.

@JR - Why didn't you use the 2019 time when applying for 2020 if it was faster?

Jovi your 2019 time should be ok as it’s after 1/1/19. Might need to reapply and submit the evidence.

Spiedog - it was as I crossed an age category & when they changed the way you qualified ie date you ran the qualifier rather than date of the VLM being the GFA qualifying criteria..
