That's bonkers. But then again the ever presents are also bonkers and I am sure he will do it. You would have thought there only being 10, they maybe could have got them to St James park along with the elites

The ever presents are a pretty dedicated bunch - when I ran it in 2018, I saw one of the ever presents walking it on crutches!

I hope the ever presents can find a way of meeting these requirements, maybe even as a group. They are such a niche part of the event and, whereas they won't go on for ever, it would be a shame for 2020 to be the year they lose their status.

I know how dedicated they are, so I’m sure they’ll all do it, but it does seem a shame the organisers couldn’t have found a way to accommodate them outside of the virtual event.

I guess thats the uniqueness of being ever present - you have to be ever present! As hard and as tough as that is

I guess - I just don't really agree with the concept of billing this virtual event as the 40th I guess (I know other peoples opinions differ here), and I'd wager it's a very different prospect for someone in their 70s or 80s to get round 26.2 miles of a course they've done 39 times, with all the support of the crowd and the atmosphere of London, than to slogging it out on your own.

I know they are a unique and very determined bunch though, so I'm sure they will do it!

Bazo's idea seems a nice one to me, but I suspect there would be logistical difficulties..

I also agree that it might be better to just consider the marathon cancelled and run a special elite race as a different thing.

Agreed, a "one off" St James Park / Buckingham Palace marathon for 2020.

I wonder if some of the tie ups with WMM etc require them to badge it as the London Marathon, so that option is removed?

Baz, I agree! The LM team have missed a trick there with all the publicity and good feeling that would bring to the 40th event. To make a big deal of the Ever Presents running the 40th London Marathon together would be awesome

I also hope that the VMLM team have considered the option of a backup race site in case London is back in lockdown by then.
