It’s looking like a lot of us are going to have to decide if we are happy to travel and participate.

If it was like Mancs in the spring, I'd do it. Driving there the day before, well-spaced accommodation (airbnb with maybe 1-2 in house), walk to start, hop in pen and bam you're off.
It doesn't sound to me that London is much like that for most people. And that's before you factor in the mindfuck of having to get stuck into the training without knowing...that might be the worst aspect. Sympathies to you all!

Yeah, travel not an issue for me but training motivation has deserted me. Plus a little niggle and I’m going to struggle to get round in a reasonable time on 4 Oct.

Flight or train for me. Then dlr/expo and tubes. Then mingle with 40k others. What could go wrong.

Bazoaxe - I doubt that there will be an Expo or if there is it will be basic pick up somewhere ( Excel still mothballed until March 2021 ). Numbers probably mailed out where possible.

I'm watching developments with great interest. I "ran" it in 2018, live on the route (around Mile 16), and have volunteered on the baggage trucks in Blackheath several times - and was due to do so again in April.
I'm finding it hard to see how the full 40,000 runner event can go ahead - but running it with a smaller field (say, just the elites & championship runners) might be viable.

If it was just champs and elite they'd have said so already. It does sound like they are under intense pressure to put it on but haven't got all ducks lined up.

I can wait until 7th Aug. Will be interesting to find out what happens then.

Various parts of the EA guidance that seem particularly problematic for VLM;
Social distancing met at all times during the race and before - even when running this is not normally possible Requirement for people to be able to socially distance while travelling to the event (ie no packed trains) No expo No pacers or entertainment Water stations self serve in plastic bottles only
How to discourage spectators or prevent their access How to do without baggage drop How to minimise reliance on public transport No medals or prize giving No mass starts at present - only waves Requirement to minimise dwell time at e.g. the start
I think it's going to be a virtual combined with an elite only real race. Then they could successfully claim to have people 'running together'. Maybe I am just cynical but I can't see how they will be able to socially distance so many people.

All that's true auburnette, but surely if it was that simple they'd have called it off for the masses already?
