The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
I think it's right that organisers leave decisions up to the government to be honest. Second guessing the "right thing to do" when you don't have access to the data, the medical brains etc is fraught with error - especially when doing so exposes the organisers to big financial costs. Bear in mind that VLM is a charity outfit (ignoring the individual fundraisers), so committing to big financial losses isn't something they'll do lightly just because it is in the best interests of the country to release pressures on local police etc.
Well, not completely pointless. I’m helping a mate raise money for the RSPCA this year and we’ve promised to run 26.2 miles anyway albeit probably locally on the day.
Despite Boris and the Chief Medical Officer explaining why cancelling mass sporting events wouldn't really help, less than 18 hours later, all football, Ice Hockey, England cricket tour, Six Nations, Masters golf and now Boston Marathon (and Ashby 20) go down like a domino rally.
