I love the way Rome has cancelled their marathon. Fingers crossed for London and Brighton being on still.

Not looking good for London is it Or indeed any other big city marathon. I wonder where the line is before the race becomes too big to be safely held in the current environment? Few thousand people? 10,000 people?

Not looking good at all for London. I’m certainly not worrying about booking accommodation yet!
I’m off to Barcelona this weekend; was meant to be for the marathon. When they said it was postponed to October I thought there was little chance I’d go but maybe, just maybe I will...

I have a theory that they're going to cancel but are waiting to make the announcement for another week or two.
I can't see how it can possibly go ahead but the point about large numbers turning up and running it anyway is valid. In a week or two with many more people likely to have seen the effects of the virus, I suspect the tide of public opinion will be firmly against people who are irresponsible enough to break rules which would hopefully limit the amount of people willing to do so.

I agree. They don’t need to decide right now.

I got a ballot place after 8 straight rejections. I have resigned myself to the fact that I won't be running on April 26th, but until it is officially announced, I must continue training. Bloody hard to summon up the enthusiasm for 18 miles tomorrow though

Will you be on the canal, Nicholls? I might be out early tomorrow.

People need to remember that you cannot stop the spread - CONTAIN phase is over we are now in the DELAY phase. DELAY means delaying up to 80% infected (40million ish) and 500K dead being a burden on the health service. This is just the start. A time for lockdowns will come but this will affect the whole country. 10000 unconfirmed people right now is a drop in the ocean - stay productive - keep people at work to stop them from rioting, looting and losing their jobs for as long as possible. FTSE up 6% this AM.

Well if Boston think it's serious enough to cancel for the first time in its 124 year history, then it would be very surprising if the London marathon committee decides it's ok to keep calm and carry on
