Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

A "real" race is a different matter though and there is ways of actually showing that you completed or not. You have paid for an entirely different type of service, the race is incurring an entirely different set of costs.

The reward of a medal for running a virtual marathon using an app is more akin to the likes of virtual loot boxes in mobile gaming, which have now been classed as gambling and I think banned. It's not quite that, but the reliability of the app is closer to gambling than the ways that races have of determining who actually covered the distance in normal times.

Ah ok, I misread as I thought you were saying entrants would be entitled to the medal and tee regardless of whether they completed - even if they weren’t claiming to have completed it. I get the point that VLM might decide to send them out to everyone to save hassle.

Yep, not that they are entitled to one, just the effort in figuring out who did or didn't run against the inevitable bad publicity when they don't send one out to some poor soul who was running in memory of something and now their life is ruined because of the lack of a tshirt really isn't worth it.

So just send to all and hope it never has to be done again. :)

Just realised that the new tee (when I finally get it) will look amazing with my new jacket

LMH - any joy selling the medal?

If mine ever arrives I'd happily swap it for a few hundred quid!

Unbelievable! I'm going to keep mine and hang it with my collection but I wish I had the foresight to log a few more marathons!

Wow! I might be cheeky and stick it on something daft like 250. And if that goes dig out all my other London medals!

I suppose there must be medal collectors out there who want them, but it'd have been cheaper to pay someone to walk it for them!
