Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

EvilPixie, it's been very similar to Boston for London and has been for the last two years*: You get the time and have the chance to apply, but the actual time is lowered evenly across age groups until there are 3000 men and 3000 women. (*The re-qualifying set-up for 2021 for those with times in 2018 is different on this one occasion.)

For previous years actual race results to get in the top 1000 you'd need to be running 2:49, for yesterdays virtual (even with dodgy apps measuring short) you would be in the top 1000 with a 3:13.

That is significantly less people running speedy times. Will be a large chunk who didn't need to as they had their GFA and Championship places secured already of course, but would love to see how many had to jump through the GFA hoops and how many will be getting GFA without already having had a 2020 place.

I think there will be less than 3000 m/f entries for next year as there will have been more who lost their place due to a 2018 time than managed to retain their place and completely new GFA applications. Will be looking at the allocation of race numbers with interest when they come out to see what can be decoded from that.

Seeing as I am WFH do you think it would be an issue if I just have a little snooze?

The counter to less GFA is that some Championship people will be pushed down to GFA wont they or is that only from 2022?

The Championship change is from 2022 I think.

They haven't updated the GFA standards yet for 2022, but I'd expect them to knock another 5 minutes off all the times and the extra cut off will likely end up being more than the 2minutes 20seconds it was for the men for 2020.

Less clear what they will do on the womens times as that went from being under subscribed one year to having twice the extra cut off time than the mens the following year for the GFA.
