Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

He needed 3.10 - so 29 seconds out BUT his previous peebee was 4.08!!! So he did smash it as far as I'm concerned

There is far more variation between phones than between watches regarding GPS.

There is a limited number of chipsets to pick up GPS, but most watches are only using the same thing and are also worn on the wrist so generally have a clear view of the sky and picking up the GPS signal is their primary purpose. Once you have the phones involved with many more variations in the way that GPS is implemented, where within the device the GPS antenna is setup, what phone case you put around the phone, where the phone is stored about the person, what other battery chewing apps you have, software versions of the phone OS, and general gremlins in the phones it is just prone to vastly more errors.

GPS is a rubbish way of measuring a marathon, phone GPS is a stupid and rubbish way of measuring a marathon.

Crikey Minardi, that's fantastic! Even though he missed it by seconds, he must be happy with the time. I wonder how strict VLM is about GFA times this year, given the circumstances, as he's only seconds away he might still qualify

conversely they may be even more strict as more people may have had a go and they won't want to be seen as bending rules?
Look at Boston now - a GFA time doesn't mean you are in as so many people get the time now

Money did brilliantly. I'm so pleased for him, but frustrating that he was just seconds outside GFA.
