Also bear in mind that Garmin devices round up on distances. So 26.2 (at least on my watch) would cover distances from 26.15 through to 26.24.

Thanks Frag. Much appreciated!

I'd want to record 26.3 on my Garmin the same as if a race doesn't measure slightly over I am concerned that it might be short.

If the app stops automatically when marathon distance is covered that'll be tremendously useful. I expect to be a few tenths over on my Garmin because I'm winging rather than measuring the route.

There'll be some hilarious outcomes where people's phones lose signal (unwittingly) or achieve WR times due to blips. I hope VLM are prepared for the onslaught!

The app is seemingly still not complete yet as they said the ability to turn off the sound and upload files is a feature that will be coming soon.

Ok. So I will aim to run 26.3 on the garmin and be getting my phone out around about 26 on the garmin to see what it has measured. If the app hadn’t stopped before garmin says 26.3 I keep going until the app stops.

The distance measure from Garmin is different on the phone to what it then shows on the Garmin app, and sometimes to what it then shows on the Garmin website, and different again to what strava will show, and switching the strava entry into a race will change the distance again.

The difference will probably be lost in the third decimal point for a marathon distance, but having the Garmin record longer is definitely a good idea for Sunday if using it as evidence for GFA and Championship entries.
