Plus any other marathons that happen in the timeframe. My feeling is that we will have few if any options in Spring 21, so will mostly be London 21 that we can use
I am surprised about the dates for London22 as by that time they should be back to their April date and normally qualifying runs through to April of the year before

Makes sense to exclude the 4th October this year to avoid any arguments about if a virtual run that counted for deferring GFA should count for an actual GFA entry.
Bit unfair to exclude half of next autumns marathon season and practically all of the 2022 marathon season, also discounting their own event from 2021 for qualifying for 2023.
But if they were looking for a way to change it from a 2 year validity of a GFA time to a 1 year validity then Covid19 has been useful to them for that. If not for the change to the Championship times then I'd expect it to make gaining a GFA place "easier" as the extra cut offs wouldn't apply, but I expect they will knock another 5 minutes off all the time bands next year to even things up with the Championship times. Probably unlikely to get the 3000+ for each gender though with the new system and limiting the period that any time run is valid for.
I can't now qualify with a GFA time for 2022 though with my currently entered events as any time I run at the end of October 2021 will only count for 2023. Need to find another small event for late spring 2021 now.

Have now gone an entered a local time trial marathon for the 4th as my best chance of potentially making the grade. Still need a few miracles to occur, and it's a bit of a shame that we are all starting individually at 15-30 second intervals rather than the chance to start a group of 6 at a time going for the same time, but better than nothing. Means I don't need to carry water, and have some additional evidence of an actual measured course in anticipation of the VMLM app being useless and crashing. Doubt they would acknowledge their app failing, but at least I'd have done everything possible in the event I manage to run a second under the time.

Wishing you the very best with that Spideog! I don't like their current phrasing (email) about the app being 'vital'. doesn't make it sound 'optional' - and let's see how it handles 40,000 runners. I say that because their email system clearly struggles ....

Hoping that I manage to find all the settings to silence the app from giving its motivational messages from celebrity runners well before the day.

Nope. Lots of emails about how to train and what to eat and invitations to spend a fortune on commemorative kit, but nothing about the app.

If what I've heard about the GNR virtual app is correct, that was only launched in the week prior to the run. It did work well, for those that like an app and are phone friendly runners. There is a subset of runners however for whom the features wouldn't appeal!
Running Commentary podcast discussed it this week with mostly positive feedback.
