Fizz, it’s the championship time Id like to shoot for - 4 mins off in last marathon. Hence my feeling a bit ... meh about the half marathon requirement. I see why it’s fair

Looks like I'll still miss out on automatic qualification as my 2019 time is a minute too slow for the table 2 time so still need to run the table 1 time.
At least they have abandoned the straight cancellation of places for people with 2018 times though. Still an impossible task to run a time, but at least they were listening.

That's a shame. Is the table 2 list the same as the cut off that would have been applied for 2019 GFA? It looked like it was for the age group I'd have been in, bit didn't check any further.

Yes, that is a shame but they do appear to have tried to get a good solution. If I understand it correctly, you do still have the table 1 virtual option to go for albeit running solo and with whatever extra requirements does make that a tough ask.
The HM looks like another possible route in ?

Table 2 is just the cut off for the 2020 times so anyone who already had a place this year should still have 1?

The table 2 times do match the cut off for original 2020 qualifications. Using that for deferral is a change from usual procedure, but can accept that under the circumstances.
The half time is a potential route, but think only applies to new GFA entrants also running a time in the virtual event, so requiring proof of an actual race.
Not entirely sure, but think that I can still apply using my 2019 time of 3:08 if I don't get a 3:09:59 in the virtual event, just would not be guaranteed and subject to less than 3000 people having GFA places. Might sneak in that way as numbers applying should be reduced from the last few years due to lack of events.

Fizz :-)
Not your time was pre-2019, you have to re-qualify.

Champs entries standards raised quite a bit - 2:45 becomes 2:40, 1:15 becomes 1:12:30 for me, 3:15 becomes 3:14, 1:30 becomes 1:28 for women (slightly odd disparities there, but I would expect it to be evidence based to a degree).
Good to see the bar being raised for high quality club runners, but presumably that will add additional pressure onto the top end of the GFA bracket for the younger age groups.

(for me, should say for men - for me, not a chance in hell!)
