Any tips/advice would be greatly received as i have only ever run aprrox. 10 miles in previous training. |

Welcome to Fetch and congratulations on getting a place in the ballot The good news is you've plenty of time (198 days, to be precise) before the big day - but it'll be my first marathon too, so not best placed to give advice. You're in the right place, though... |

Welcome to fetch First things first, don't panic. Loads of time to train. Find one of the appropriate threads for the time you want & ask them all the questions you want or nip over to the 100 marathon challenge thread & ask them, they've done a few between them. |

Welcome Hana. Congrats and enjoy VLM (see you there!) There are quite a few good threads on here about "first training plans". Try to run at least 3 times a week, build your 1 longest run of week up slowly (say starting at 8 miles and adding 0.5 or 1 mile a week to it). Don't worry about speed until you do the 15 or 18 mile long run. And take it easy and if you have any sore bits, rest and recover. Hal Higdon website does beginner marathon plans, and lots of others too. Good luck and enjoy! :-)G
