Pretty sure you’ll bother if you qualify Larkim.

Lark - I guess that's why they last 2 years. So your autumn marathon this year will GFA you for 2021.... And then your 2020 autumn marathon for 2022 and so on. Keep being good enough, and you won't miss out.

LMH - I'm assuming I will be ok but entered the ballot too just in case. Interestingly they recommend entering the ballot anyway in case your time isn't good enough for GFA. On the ballot page it recommends doing the ballot if you are within 5 minutes of the GFA time. Will be interesting to see if there is any cut off next year. It seems like they didn't reach the 6000 number this year. I suspect a lot missed out due to the change of age definition. Also the very hot race last year and slower times might have reduced the numbers. |

@SailorSteve - probably! @ptb - true dat, but it just feels like a long time between an Oct 2019 GFA achievement and an April 2021 London "benefit" if you're not a serial marathon runner. Myself, my son and my wife have all stuck in ballot applications anyway - why not, takes only a couple of minutes and if we did all get in through various means that would be a cost effective trip down to the big smoke!! |

larks, its a timing thing. My run yesterday I think will cover the next 2 londons and unless they really tighten the times I am well inside

It is a touch unfair though - spring GFA times can be run in either of two calendar years, whereas autumn ones have to be run in just the one as the period runs Jan Y1 to Aug Y2.

You are right. My Chester 17 time only got me in for 2019 and yesterday I had to ensure I renewed my GFA time or try again before August. It is though a spring marathon and gives you 3 shots if you run spring/autumn as is traditional.

Chester is planned - targetting 3:10 at least. DOn't worry, if I'm capable I'll get the time this year.

Good lad. “If at first you don’t succeed” etc. We’re all learners.
