Cheers Jono...a little gutted and really annoyed with myself. I should know better to ignore the basics and this is what happens when you ignore the basics for too long. Still, lessons learnt...I will be back stronger and better. |

Sorry you won't be there SODIron, but speaking as someone who let a minor spinal nerve injury turn into a major one I'd definitely say you've made the right choice.

I'm in 3, also hoping for sub-4 but realistically would predict 4-4:15.

It was hard - harder than it had a right to be! I got to see Stanley Park though, which I had never been to before, it looked lovely. And I got to run through my three parks (Princes, Sefton and Otterspool). But I just didn't have it in me yesterday to make it the run I wanted it to be, one of my hamstrings felt tight quite early on and my lungs felt sore (never had that before) and I have woken up today with a sore throat and a cough and most annoyingly sunburn! I was really surprised at how sparse the run was and (I assume) how few runners for a big city marathon. From about 4.5 miles onwards my friend and I were pretty much running on our own - never expected that. One of the highlights for me was when a little girl called that she liked my hair, then I heard her say it to someone else and looked round to see she had said it to a bloke in a orange curly nylon wig - it seemed less of a compliment then! Also had a bloke in Sefton Park offert o buy me an ice cream (I declined but it was lovely for him to have offered). |

so lets get this straight - BTR established a liverpool marathon where over 3000 runners took part in 2012 and where they projected a steady increase over the years to establish a major running event and RnR organisation with all their experience - and I'm sure they forecasted 10,000 entrants - managed 2307 runners? plus the council gave them a load of cash and a course in and around the Liverpool city centre? beggars belief BTW - well done mulbs on your run, sorry for letting you down with the lift. |
