I know this is last years thread, but I can't find a thread for this year. I'm thinking of doing this one but I'm unsure whether I could manage the double. Can any one give me any advice on the training required to do the double? I've only completed 2 marathons so far, the Mersey Marathon this October and Edinburgh last May and have only been running for about 18 months. Is this too ambitious considering my experience so far? Should I just maybe stick to one? I'm quite a slow runner - both marathons I have managed to complete in just under 5 hours. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks :-)

as paul said - this year as proved it more and more PLB to me good self :) no need to do to many long runs though - above 20. frequent, build up stamina the pace will come.

Hi Pinkliverbird,

This is the info for this year: 100marathonclub.org.uk :)

Under 5hr is not that slow at all, there will be many people at this event finishing much slower than that.

For training it's best to try running back to back long runs to get used to running on tired legs although I now personally believe that training is much overrated ;)

Thanks very much for info and advice. If I can work around the dates with family affairs etc and get down to Liverpool over the New Year think I might just go for it. In the meantime, will keep running :-)

Boing... Just discovered this event as I was pondering a New Year's Day marathon (not a fan of new year but fancy running a marathon for it!). Not sure I could handle the double especially as I will have done Pisa marathon the weekend before, but could just do the new year's day one...

Anybody doing it this year?

Got something to say?
