I have a day off tomorrow and the rest of the family have already decided they are busy, so I have a visit with a friend near Chichester. Arundel Lido is fully booked, but Hilsea in Portsmouth has space. Actually it sounds big at 67m. Anyone fancy a dip? I'm in at 12:00. :-)

Anyone posted about New Brighton yet? Used to have a tower taller than Blackpool's.

Here's an article about New Brighton lido, or outdoor swimming baths, opened 1934 and effectively destroyed by gales in 1990. There's a terrifying 5-board diving tower and some other interesting archives pics.

I went to Hilsea Lido today. It's a work in progress and could be really nice. 67m long with shallow ends and a diving pool middle. When I arrived they had captured 3 lads who had climbed the fence, then there was a tussle over a scooter which the boys wanted back. Police and local TV were called and I was interviewed while in the pool by BBC South.

Sounds like fairly typical North End behaviour.

Nice mural (in your other photos)!

Nantwich Brine Pool. Never got there, we never know when we’re passing through. It’s always fully booked on nice days, especially with current restrictions.

Tinside Lido in Plymouth is a cracker. I've been once, and this thread has encouraged me to plan to go back again this year.

Loved Tinside when I was training for my first Tri.

I'm moving to DSC (Pompey) so Hilsea will be my local. I've never been - didn't they reopen it fairly recently?

I think Hilsea reopened in May this year.
