LOL. I'll tell her that. ;)

Of course I shall be only doing half a race but am hoping for it to be a PB at the very least, maybe even a sub 2. :)

Route starts off through the city (downhill) and is quite busy for the first 6 miles until the half marathoners peel off.

Then the route goes a bit rural through various villages. It's undulating but there's good support in the villages. There's a level crossing that you might have to stop at. There's marshalls and chip mats though so they adjust your time for the wait if you get caught.

Then the route goes through a nice park with a lake and back through the city centre - right through the shopping precint which confuses the shoppers. Then back up the incline (long but not particularly steep) to the finish.

That is assuming it hasn't changed since I last did it (2010 I think)

I was surprised, bar the first few 'city' miles it is a lovely course, with a tough finishing mile.

How undulating is it compared with Chester (which, despite the blurb, has actually got undulation in the 2nd half) - signed up for the latter but now find that my daughter starts Uni that day and I will need to transport her there. I was an undergrad at Leicester, so would be nice to go back.

Hiya DrDan, with just over 200 metres of ascent/descent it is fairly flat, but does have an 'evil' finish, the last mile-ish is all up hill after running through the town centre. Never run Chester so not able to compare.

However when compared with Bungay, Milton Keynes and Halstead it is definitely an 'easier' course ;-)
