I haven't done any of the events but am currently reading Julie Welch's book, Out on your Feet, and feeling quite inspired.

I like LDWA events, very good value for money particularly if you manage to add a mile or two to the advertised distance Despite being on a break from longer races I've done my local event the past two years off of minimal training. However this time around I may well have rekindled the desire to add a few more marathons / ultras to the collection. |

Unfortunately there's a dearth of events anywhere near me.

I did the LDWA featured in the Julie Welch book (Yoredale 100 in 2008). LDWA 100's are like no other event I've done. Brilliant weekends of walking / jogging / running / limping (41hours + of walking and limping in my case);-)

I'm reading it on Kindle. It's really good. Julie Welch's "Long Distance Information" is one of my favourite running-related books. |
