Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Seems it off for tomorrow's running. Weather and the government forcing the hand of the organisers. A big group from a local club are across for it, but have already 'taken to the bar' to drown their sorrows :P

That's disappointing. Isn't Lanzarote somewhere you go to get away from weather?

That's bad news - one of my club mates was signed up for this race. The following was on the Lanzarote forum on Trip Advisor today:

Flights to Lanzarote have been diverted to Fuerteventura over the past few hours.
There is an Orange Alert in place in Tenerife and northern Gran Canaria as winds of up to 120 kph are expected.
A couple of showers in Caleta today, and a strong, blustery wind. I imagine it will get worse.

We were there, Airport shut for 2 days due to high winds and torrential rain, sandbags in front of all the shops. The race was cancelled due to their being a red weather alert. All schools were closed over the island the day before and the Marathon Village tents got blown away. Great shame as it was the 25th Anniversary of the race this year.

That's a shame. I did this race years ago and it's a great event.

Got something to say?
