I was so full of admiration for the bikers in the dark, I found Garburn scary enough on my feet in the dark. As I said the things that go on only in my head, or more correctly ears LOL.

Shame about the feet Flip...you were looking on top of things when we passed you. Glad you had a good day though. Good move to save the feet. Fenland Runner...agree with Flip. I think heat was the main problem. I started badly and improved so I am left with the positive memories of the day whereas you faded and are left with the negatives at the end. Remember how awesome you were at Gatescarth! You can go so much faster than that time on the right day. Firemannotsam...mate, you looked as fresh as a daisy. Gutted that you had to pull out due to knee pain. Next time, next time ![]() Vamos...just awesome! Anna...you rock! What a great attitude to get out there and make the most of it when you knew you weren't up to finishing. Brilliant! Great to have met you all. Sorry I didn't get to meet you, Susie. Looking forward to reading the blog though...sounds like you had a great adventure. Wildcat, I saw a few bikes, the biggest group were on the lanes above Skelwith Bridge. It was getting dim but the runners didn't quite need headtorches. Could you have been in that group? |

There were MTB controls in the bridleways & roads all around Loughrigg, and racers will have visited them between about 8pm and midnight so it almost certainly was some of our racers you saw. However, I didn't start seeing Lakeland50/100 runners untill the Jenkin Crag bridleway, coming out of Ambleside. (It was a score-based MTB, kayak & running event, so everyone took slightly different routes on each stage) |

It was hard work! Definitely the toughest Open24 I've done. My body is in pain this morning.

MC you may have seen me and my amigos....all wearing luminous yellow running shorts. We met loads of cyclists carrying their bikes up, as we descended into Ambleside One of your competitors offered us his bike (but I think he was taking the piss) Fantastic event, we finished the 50 in just under 19hours....possibly the toughest thing I've ever done and certainly the hardest race |
