Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've reccied the whole route now (and have done Ambleside to Coniston twice) and am spending a little time every day looking at the map and route book, making sure it's all locked in. I've got it pretty much wired but will have the map and book close to hand on the race. The only bit I don't know about is the initial 6 miles to Pooley Bridge but I should have plenty of company for that part, especially as I'm planning to start at an easy pace.

It's pretty astounding how quickly you've managed to get back into the long distances.

Kill or cure plan. Hearing is a little better but still not great.

Base camp near Keswick on Friday, catch the bus down to Ambleside and return via Fairfield and the Dodds, will push this to see how things go. Saturday - bus back to Ambleside, then follow the route round to Coniston and on back to Keswick. Will be self supported except for what I can forage along the way.

No time pressures as I've got Monday off if I need it, so will take it nice a easy but would be nice if I can maintain a pace just ahead of the cut-off.

The first half is tougher, especially before Braithwaite.

It has moved...it's now on the main path, just a few hundred meters from the junction where you normally leave the trail and head into Chapel Stile.

...so just keep running as though there is no checkpoint at Chapel Stile and you'll hit it.

Thought it must have moved judging by the route description in the road book. Wonder if they'll still be serving stew this year

No need to head to the houses. You hit the road then very soon after take the path on the left, up the wee slope (the one that you picked up on leaving Chapel Stile last year after re-tracing your steps a little). It's in one of the barns/buildings along the path, at the bottom of a small dip. Terry said the school fell out with them but he didn't know why. They are going to try to find somewhere better for next year but to be honest I like this as it's right on the path so we don't have to go ALL THE WAY into Chapel Stile :-).
