Good idea Flip and if you can yes do it - know what you are up for and any prep is good for the nav - partly why we have been doing the sections we expect to be in the dark at...great fun doing them in the dark as it looks totally different, even one of our group on Friday night had done the route in the day and still got misplaced on the map.

Good thing of darkness tho is you can't see the top of the hill lol....that's good i think ha ha ;)

Question - what trainers do people wear for this as I need some new trainers?

I seem to disagree with INOV8 and am looking at Asics Trabuco..

Got to be loads of threads on that subject plus on the UTLD web forum, but i have taken to the INOV8 ROCS 319 lightweight, well grippy and spot on support,i have some salomons, and Brooks cascadia but they just dont grip like the inov8

Unless it is bone dry and no chance of rain I'll probably be starting in Roclites and maybe have my Cascadias in the drop bag - if it is wet I'm thinking of having an old, but still usable, pair of Roclites in the drop bag - just to have something dry for even a short while.

ill probably use sportiva to run in. although I love running in the dark , almost prefer it , personally im not so convinced that just solely night recce are the best for me . I say that because I think I have a better memory of whats coming next and the context of the route in my head when recceing in the light if that makes sense . my idea of walking it are , one ive an injured foot , two the terrain will be starting to look like it will in july and three thats a pub every night :-). mind im looking at maybe 6 weeks running if im lucky before this race so fast I wont be . if anyone wants to join me for the walk youre welcome .
