Troutbeck to Chapel Stile, even at night, is the easy bit
Enjoy, will miss it this year

May have spotted the school-boy error from last years run! 11.2 miles to Howtown, covered in 1:48, that was quicker than the same sort of distance when running the flat Winter Poppyline 50.
Lesson has been learnt!

Nah you have to run the first bit fast, get as far as possible in the light...It is doubly difficult in the dark both navigation and keeping any speed going...

Last nights was a Black Ops mission from Skelwith Bridge to Coniston. Myself and 3 other L50s from the running club did this part of the route. Easy peasy (but not after 30+ miles I know) to Langdale campsite then the fun started lol. Steepish up the hill but shorter than I thought and then around Blea Tarn was tricky under foot and quite easy to lose path. Then onto quarry was up and down but even better when wemissed parking bay and reached main road and had to double back but hey exttra miles lol..:) then out of quarry was steep and no doubt cramp inducing steps on the day and up up up onto open moorland where the path was and could be easy to lose..then down into Coniston, bugger bugger that descent with hurt like f&%k on the day ....and could produce a few tumbles when shagged to bits after 48 miles never mind 98 ... All in all a really good 14.5 miles in the dark

Good memories! The section from Blea Tarn to the road is probably the most difficult to nav of the whole route!

I'd agree that's the trickiest nav of the whole lot. maybe something to do with being on the go for 40-odd miles. Will be even more amusing after 90-odd

I've done that section during a recce when it was light and still couldn't find the path. Providing you keep heading south, south/west you're bound to hit the road
