Hello! I'm now into my second week of having a rather unpleasant kidney infection and halfway through my second course of antibiotics and I'm managing the pain with co-codamol. I haven't been training during this period but as time is dragging on I'm now getting worried about the impact on my training. My question is: 1. Should I just take a can of man up juice and crack on with my training? 2. Is running ok or should I just stick with some swimming? Many thanks in advance |

It sounds like you're not really up to full on training yet. I would try and get out for a brisk walk for an hour a day if I couldn't do anything else. Best to get well before oushing yourself and possibly having a setback. Hope it clears up soon.

I would have thought that any strenuous exercise causing you to sweat, would cause some dehydration and possibly aggrevate your kidneys more?

Actually I hadn't thought about that...I'm too busy fretting about losing all my fitness and scuppering my return to running HM

Red Ant: You cannot exert yourself until given the all clear... unless you want to be even more ill. Fitness will be there... maybe you will just have to run slower

RA, I see that your half isn't until September so you've got plenty of time to catch up - don't stress yourself about it, rather enjoy the rest.

Ah but I'm doing the C210k at the minute.... and I'm still on run-walk Nevermind. Fingers crossed this second lot of antibiotics will nuke the infection!
