So, what's that all about then?

How do I do it? What's the difference between that and "hills"? And why will I benefit from such a session?

You run in a loop or up and down a hill and put the same effort in both ways

Simple

Seems simple enough. I'm reading a variety of different training plans (following none yet) and this just crops up in a lot of them with very little explanation. What sort of effort do I need to be putting into the session? And am I looking for long gentle rises or huge great steep things.

I have done them running 30 seconds up a hill and back and also done them on a 120 second loop.

Effort depends on what you need have done them at 5km effort to flat out :¬)

I'm doing Kenyan hills tomorrow - it's a 1500m loop with 2 main hills and 1 long, gradual downhill which you've really got to hammer.

It's my favourite session.. the main focus is on the crests and the downhills - you've just got to flow up the hills and feel good.

We also do 10x 600m Kenyan hills which is simply 300m up and 300m down.

Got something to say?
