Our Wed evening club sea sessions have started again. Last 2 weeks have been windy and lumpy conditions. I did a couple of interesting surf launches and landings a couple of weeks ago. Not quite what I had in mind for my first paddle in 7 months.

The club are branching into SUPing a bit so hopefully get a wee shottie again at some point.

Hey there HappyG

Far too little paddling in the past year. I have an open boat (Explorer 17) and a kayak (Jackson Zen).

I'm an experienced white water kayaker, which has been my paddling focus recently. I can also be found lifeguarding open water swims from my kayak and toddling around on the flat stuff we have here.

I'm a qualified coach for open boats and for kayaks.

I do some specialist stuff too.

I'm just as happy pootling around in any water - boats are my happy place! It's more about the company than the place.

Boinged on over to this thread after my first SUP experience at the weekend :-) Thanks Happy Grrr.

Mr S had the idea of buying me a SUP board for a birthday present as we'd watched a van life video where they reviewed one. I said to let me try it first.

But I loved it and will definitely go again. Luckily we have a good hire place nearby so I can try it out a bit more. I'd like to get myself a 5mm wetsuit - any recommendations? Oh and neoprene boots. Given that I'll mostly be in and on the North Sea, warmth is a key consideration!

I already have a buoyancy jacket from sailing.

We sail a bit. I’ve got a Wayfarer and a Solo (and an Enterprise for sale, if anyone’s interested?!) and MrsC sails a Laser Radial, as does FlyingScotsman while his sister prefers a Topper.

Enterprise for sale you say AC....?! I nearly bought a Topper last year off a guy over in Largs. Must. Stop. Looking! Seriously, would love to get back into sailing but I've got too many hobbies at the mo! :-) G

Have been in the sea once on the sup a couple of weeks ago but too bumpy to stand (the water was too cold to fall into 😂) my neoprene boots are two bare feet and they were fab.

Am off to Devon at the weekend and the SUP is going with me - hope to use a fair bit. It is an inflatable once and easy to transport
