It was like a millpond in front of the bungalow, but as soon as I got out of the shelter of the islands it was a bit choppier. It was quite hard work into the wind, but I kept going, knowing I’d have the benefit of it behind me for most of the way home. Nope. I had my picnic at a nice little bench in a large bay. By the time I paddled back round the point and into the main part of the lough the wind had dropped right down. 10 miles of paddling altogether though, which is my longest paddle, so I am happy enough with that.
