Is it just me who thinks this is a bit ageist/sexisct

No problem with having tough time limits in races, e.g. I'd look out of place at a BMC meet at present, but this seems like a grossly unfair way to do it. I'm assuming its not strictly enforced.

Swittle - I am indeed not running it - not because I'm a raving feminist but more for the reason that I object to the sort of person who holds these sort of views. I agree I could ask to run in the faster race if I was over 50 - but personally I don't think I should have to

My club mate (an MV65) recently ran a sub 37 10km to put him top of this years GB rankings for his age group. He should perhaps enter as he'd be a shoe in for the win for the slow race!

What really gets my goat is the phrase "or anyone else who will run over 22 mins" so many ageist/sexist assumptions in one sentence!

Had the same thought as DeeGee. "Traditional" running club in North of England. Run by people with 1960s school cross-country championship trophies on their mantelpieces who think that anyone not running six minute miles is both doing it wrong and wasting everyone's time.

Possibly a totally unfair caricature but they started it.

I've never run the Abingdon Marathon. Not because of its 5 hour time limit, but because of the naming and shaming those who do finish after that time. It's as if they come across as 'if you're not quick enough, you're not welcome.'

Surrey Phil: How do they do that? On the website people who finished over 5 hours just seem to be listed in the results in the usual way.

I ran Abingdon in over 5 hours and was made very welcome.
