Sunday night, I'll be in a bar downing some Coors Lite, recovering from the run, wondering where the next challenge will come from...

Don't schedule every minute for NY. Plan 1 or 2 things to do each day and enjoy them. You can plan too much. I've been about 6/7 times and I still haven't been/done half of what I want to do...

My problem is, I have Saturday and about 9 hours on Monday. I want to cram in as much as poss and not be kicking myself for missing certain things. Plus there's the bits that the wife insists I get for her while I'm 'jollying it up' as she reckons I'll be doing.

A few post race beers does sound good, I think I'm kidding myself if I think I'll be doing anything different!

Moscow Flyer, there was next to no queue for Top Of The Rock when we went last year, it never gets as busy as the Empire State I am told. We loved it and the views were amazing.

If you only do one touristy thing in NY do Top Of The Rock:-)

Cheers, I did wonder because the ESB was apparently a good two hour wait to get to the top. As long as I see the SOL, Times Square (day and night) and Grand Central Station, I'll be happy.

MF- You can go to TOTR at night as well, we didn't as we had LMG with us, but expect that would be cool to see NY all lit up:-)

I'm all jealous now, I want to go back there:-)

Was planning to buy tickets online to miss the queue for ESB, but after looking at the link for top of the rock might do that instead. Fancy the boat trip across to the statue of liberty as well. So much to see and do !

TOTR is brilliant - much preferred it to the Empire State:-)

Times Square isn't really worth it - tourist central and its not really a square at all! Just imagine Piccadilly Circus, but with a few more lights and even more traffic and people, and thats erm, it!

A wander round Soho, or the West Village/Greenwich, or those types of areas a bit further downtown is definitely worth it.

HI all. Am excited about doing the NY marathon this year. Looking forward to NY for all the sights and atmosphere things, including buying Christmas presents and then trying to get them all back without having to pay tax... is that a problem? I want a few gadgets, i.e., garmin 405 maybe or even a garmin etrex vista cx, but will I be asked to pay added tax at the airport as I leave? Anyway, that's minor, am hoping to do VIP for empire state, someone says he can get them in advance, but it will be in the dark on our first evening there, and would be nice to do Rock maybe daytime on Friday. Hope I'll get to see some of you there, it's just a magic feeling to be going. Hope to run sub 3.30 but did 3.10 at Edinburgh so since training been going ok for last three weeks might be tempted to aim at 3.15 again. Injured before that didn't help. Anyway, good luck everyone and have a great time.

Does anyone know if they have the service whereby you can have texts sent to a designated number to update them of your progress every 10k? Or can you be tracked online during the race?
