Hi Cavehill, training is going pretty well, doing a 15 mile race on sunday to try out marathon race pace, hoping for a sub 3:30 marathon :)

How is your training going?

Once I get tomorrow out of the way I'll be down to my last two 20's before I start to taper. Still not sure what to do in those last three weeks though as my schedule has me down for an 18 and a marathon pace 12 just 14 and 7 days before the race, which I think may be a bit too much.

Going well...yeah thanks.

In good shape but I'm a bit worried that I haven't done enough LSRs (One 20, One 16.5, One 14) so I'm heading tonight at 6.30 to do a 20 miler.

Can't wait. It really isn't that far away...yeeeeeehaaaw.

I am doing 18 tomorrow, 20 next weekend then Swindon half marathon on the 12th October. Hopefully all the hills round here will be good preparation for New York. Does anyone know....do you get gatorade on the NYC route cos I had some during Amsterdam half marathon and it didn't agree with me! Am starting to think about what food/fuel to pack...exciting eh!! Only 4 weeks left at school.....

lurk lurk.
Redkate, yes it was Gatorade on the course, I think it was at every station from 5 miles and was the first point at the water station. They also had Power Gels ( I think) at 18 miles.

I'm well jealous cos I want to do it again, NYC was fab:-)

Apparently the Gatorade is differnet from the one we get over here and doesn't taste the same, so you have to bear that in mind. I'll be trying to get around on water and gels, as sports drinks don't agree with me.

Got my third 20 out of the way yesterday, two more to go and then the taper begins.

I got the NY Gatorade shipped over last year and am still drinking from the enormous tub. It's the most easily-digestible sports drink I've ever had. Subtle lemon flavour. And yes, you get gels at about 17 miles. There's loads of flavours, so don't just grab the first one you see, like I did.
