Didn't realise you had to "sign" for a pacing group? Do you do that at the expo? I thought you just followed someone who was identifiable as a pacer, no? (yes, i am a novice, and yes, this is my first marathon...LOL)

Yes, you do it at the expo, and they give you an extra number to wear, but some people just turned up and followed us anyway, which is not a problem.

SLOW RAMBLER
Cave, the EXPO is mammoth sized (don't forget to bring your passport to EXPO) the MOST important thing to do is get a seat on a bus.. if it's not included in your own itinarary... they usually leave NYC Library (opp Central Station - (not Maysfield KFC you'll understand that one!!)) from around 05.30 - thye do like to have people signed up for a particular pace group, but as you can't really miss them, don't panic if you don't sign up beforehand!!! It's an amazing experience, one that you'll never forget!! If I can help in any way let me know!

We have a bus on our itinerary - doing it with MENCAP so hopefully that's all sorted. Looking forward to the Expo, and the whole experience in general..

Just wondering how the training is going for you lot? Can't believe there's less than 8 weeks to go. Where has the time gone? Going to be an interesting trip what with the marathon, halloween and the presidential elections on the tuesday (I'm still there). Should be good crack.

hi c75! when I did NYC in 06 - state governor elections were on - didn't see much about it around the city, you must be itching for it... and so you should... great experience! The down side was the hotel TV - 68 stations at NOT ONE thing on!!!

training going pretty bad for me ...
Everything good until I did my 50 mile race on august 10th, then I have struggled with a bad knee, I haven't been able to run more than 20km in a day in the last month. Now I also have bad hip and a cold :-(
The problem is that I am running berlin marathon end of septembre!
So i think I will have to take berlin easily and try my best at new york!
