Helen Glover was our “team captain” when I ran VLM in 2017 for the Brain and Spine Foundation. We had an afternoon where we got to meet her and have a photo shoot. She was very friendly and down to earth. And she then ran the marathon in about 3:05.

Sweltering here. An hour done at easy UT2, can't be arsed with anything more energetic, especially after yesterday's run ended in a crash and burn.

33C in the shed this evening but I made sure I was fully hydrated, got 3 fans well positioned, and did 3 x 3km L3/Tempo/UT1 depending on how you read it.

I nearly chuffing melted but I feel great for having done it!

When you say "Crash and burn", Muttley, you only mean the heat got to you, not that you've had another fall don't you?

Correct, Nellers. I am so far managing to remain upright, which is always a bonus.

Thanks guys!

Sounds like Helen Glover is a string runner too with a 3:05 marathon!

Good sessions in this heat Muttley/Nellers! I did 10k yesterday and set out to do the same today, but about 4k in I realised the reason I was soaked was because I hadn't set up my fan 🙄
8k was enough today!!

Another sweaty 10k today.

There's a good 45 min documentary on BBC i-player about Helen Glovers comeback, it's worth a watch!

I don't know if I'm acclimatising to the heat or something but I managed a yesterday after work and it didn't seem so bad. 31C on the thermometer in the shed but I felt OK. Saying that it was all steady aerobic with a couple of drink breaks.

There's a YouTube series that British Rowing have put together: The Road to Tokyo. 3 episodes tracking various members of the squad as they go through initial selection, Covid, postponement, reselection etc.

I'm 2 episodes in and it's really good.

Just checking in after a crazy few weeks at work followed by time on the injury bench with back problems. Glad to hear you’re keeping upright, Muttley, and that your tooth issues are now fixed, Craggy.

Getting back on the erg today for a low-key attempt at the Rowlympics challenge. Is anyone else doing that? Glad it’s a bit cooler now, though. Not sure how you managed to get through 10k sessions at the temperatures we had earlier in the week!
