I've got back going a bit, after a fashion. Knocked out 3 x 2k @ tempo pace tonight. Quite warm in the shed but plenty of fans.

I see a lot of you doing bits and bobs, and there are quite a few new names showing up on the monthly league.

ANyone out there want to say hello?

Hello Nellers :-)

3 x 15 minute ladders for me this morning: 20 spm through to 28. It's warm here and the going was tough. The shorter distance on the third rep told the story. But enjoyable, I'd forgotten how much I like ladders.

There’s a very definite sense of satisfaction from a well executed rate ladder isn’t there? Nice one. I know what you mean about heat though. The shed was 28c last night while I rowed! Just a bit sweaty.🥵

I've started taking a rehydration salts sachet after the sweatier sessions. They do seem to make me feel less washed out for the rest of the day.

Apologies for my absence, I haven't done much lately - I went to have my tooth removed and it broke off below the gum, I then had three weeks of toothache before having it surgically removed. but It's out now thankfully!

Hope your knee is ok now Muttley, looks like you had a nasty fall!

Good to see you getting good sessions in Muttley and Nellers, the joys of indoor rowing in the summer eh?

That sub 20 5k is coming Dave 💪

I blame you, Muttley! I've just done 40 minutes of 10 minute stroke rate ladders (4@16, 3@18, 2@20, 1@22). Very enjoyable!

:-) Glad you enjoyed, Nellers.

So there you are, Craggy ... that tooth issue doesn't sound much fun. Positive healing vibes in your direction to get you back on the machine!

On another matter -- Olympic rower Helen Glover is from these parts and they featured her on the local TV news last night. On the erg, slow spm like 18 or 20, a nonchalant 2:00 on the monitor. She's a strong lass.

Wowzers! Last year I did a 30r20 at 2:03.2 average pace and it was a long way from nonchalant, I can tell you!

You take care of yourself, Craggy. That tooth thing sounds like a nightmare! Hopefully it's all behind you now and you'll be at full strength soon.

Warm and sticky here today (west Cornwall). An hour done at the lower end of UT2 hr range. Only problem I had, towards the end, was that my headband was so soaked that sweat was dripping into my eyes. Even on gentler sessions I sweat bucketloads. A good sweat gives the feeling of a decent workout but there are times when it's just a little too much.
