No no, this is all helpful info. Surrey is closest to family but I'm also thinking it's a bit steep and not that interesting a route.

And Reading does seem like the best option for the "bigger" race. Have a few mates doing it. White Horse seems tempting though. Might strike Richmond as I can go do the parkrun there at some point.

I PB'd at Fleet this year and was ahead of Martin Yelling for at least 50 yards, so that one gets my vote

Reading is the only one I've run, but I help out at the Richmond one. It's not in the park, it's along the river from Kew, past Richmond and Ham House and then loop back. It's a lot on unmade towpath. Hampton Court was new last year, and they had a few teething problems, but I am sure will up it's game this year. If/when you're considering May, our club Half (Ranelagh Richmond Half) is lovely

I will be doing Wokingham, and should have a club volunteer place for Reading. (I don't particularly like it, but the course has changed a weeny bit to put the Green Park tedium at the front, and I will know LOADS of people doing it) List looks similar to ones I looked at this year.
White horse has hills - I might try it but still want a PB so maybe not this year, as it looks nice and scenic otherwise.
Surrey I didn't go for this year due to price. Also lack of trains early enough in the morning! Did Silverstone last year - dull if you don't like racing, brilliant if you do. Have now run, motorcycled and been in the two seater around and now find that there's a sportive I could have done last week! flatish until you go up the perimeter road round the back of Club corner. Need to drive or have a driver to get there though.
Brooklands looked appealing, was more expensive.
In the end I did Berlin (brilliant place, flat, well marshalled and water and bananaed, I cocked it up rather - if travelling go sightseeing AFTER the race...) and the Maidenhead 10 to replace the cancelled Wokingham half.
OH has signed up for Hampton Court - it looks good but I'm not doing one the week after Reading so I've signed up to volunteer.

Stumpy
reading is fun
hampton court will be flat but possibly a bit dull course as I think is similar to the breakfast run course and i don't like that event. (am sure this will be MUCH better organised and a much nicer event). i am actually considering it too as i sent it to a colleague a few weeks ago and now he's trying to persuade me to do it as well.
i second the vote for the ranelagh half in may. much nicer. fabulous volunteers. at least in the years I volunteered

I've done Fleet and Reading from that list.
Reading is much bigger, and therefore less appealing as far as i'm concerned.
Fleet isn't hilly, but its a lot slopier than Wokingham.
Fravage, you should get yourself to a flat half course, you take another chunk off your PB.

So after two pages (I think), basically I can take one off the list
