Would you heat frozen peas in it, for example?

According to Mrs P, her parents and her brother, yes. I was trying to rally support for my 'it's just a saucepan with a lip' stance but they all banded together. The milk saucepan is for heating milk exclusively. Even using it to heat water is Wrong.

It's just a small pan that gets used for cooking small things.

I'm with .B. You can use a small pan for small things. In fact, just this morning I used mine to heat half a tin of baked beans.

I think it's something to do with salt causing milk to curdle if pan been used for boiling water. I have no idea if this is a real problem or just something I was told years ago.

Mine tends to be used for making gravy than boiling milk. Although it was used for milk yesterday when I made custard
