Apologies if similar threads exist, just wondering how far people travel from home to their running club.

We moved house 6 months ago and I pretty much packed my club at the time we put our house on the market (12 month back).

My wife still works in the area where her club is and I've been along to it a few times.

I also know alot of their members through parkrun and the local races from the last 3 years or so.

A really organised club with structured training and different groups to progress to which I think is what I need....

But.... It's an almost 40 mile round trip, and there are a couple of clubs on my doorstep and maybe half a dozen more again closer to our current home, including the one I left a year ago.

So, waffle over.

How far do people travel, do they go past any clubs catchments on the way and is it worth the hit of a gallon of petrol or whatever once or twice a week?

I'm not sure if I'm trying to talk myself in our out of this by the way, just wondering what other peoples experience is. :)

Thanks!

I travel about 15 mins. Partly so that when we are out running we are not doing the same runs I do when I'm running round near home.

I travel about 5 miles. It's,my nearest one. It's small and low key, which I like. There is a club about 15 miles, away that has a,more structured approach to training and a track to train on. Altho this appeals I couldn't justify the round trip.

Good idea CStar ... I'm going delirious running the same roads ... Typical runs are 7 tom10 miles and I do ~ 30 miles per week. The lack of variation is mind numbing

22 mile round trip. Always worth it. Live in the middle of nowhere in Scotland, so the roads are long, clear and fast - only 15 minutes each way.

8.5 miles each way on the bike. Gets pretty tough going uphills on the way home. Lots of moaning from me usually, luckily Magpie cant hear over the wind :)

Ten minutes on bike each way, about the same in the car so cycle 99% of the time. Big club with track and good facilities.
