flyingfinn Jan 2021 11:22pm, 21 Jan 2021 2,484 posts	0 flyingfinn I always found that Hokas last very well apart from the Jawz which were a great shoe to wear but seemed to universally fail by the upper tearing along the leading edge after a handful of descents (they are a studded fell shoe). I've currently got 3 different Hokas (Speedgoat 3, Torrent, Raps Hui) on the go that are all shortly heading for end of life with well in excess of a 1000 miles on the clock (probably nearer 1500). The Torrents and the Raps Hui have been on the go for about 12 months (during which I've run over 4000 miles in total) and the Speedgoats for 18 months starting with the LL100 in 2019. All get soaked and covered in mud on a daily basis from Oct to March and generally given a fairly hard life. The Speedgoats are my go to shoe for off road ultras on anything except out and out fell and less than 50k but I love the feel of the Torrents and for out and out grip they out perform anything except an aggressive stud, they just stick to everything. Yet they're great for quick running on the road as well.

Badger Jan 2021 11:25pm, 21 Jan 2021 13,429 posts	0 Badger I retired my first pair of Challenger ATR4s on over 700 miles, mainly because I had a race coming up which was going to be muddy and I noticed they didn't really have any lugs any more. They still felt fine though. I've heard of people having trouble with the uppers coming apart but mine were fine.

I'm equipped with ShooGoo now so hoping I can extend the life of the latest pair (7s) a little longer. I love them as a super comfy, springy road shoe though so will keep buying them.
steve45 Jan 2021 1:49pm, 22 Jan 2021 4,344 posts	0 steve45 I have to say that comfort wise they beat my more recent saucony purchases by having a roomier toe box. Although I grumbled about them to a degree in an earlier thread my run on various terrain today was quite perfect. I have three pairs of shoes always on the go, two saucony and one hoka which have now done 430 miles but unless I give them a good spread of ShooGoo today they ain't gonna last. So ShooGoo it'll be.
steve45 Jan 2021 11:29am, 24 Jan 2021 4,350 posts	0 steve45 Me and my wife both wore Hokas in the slush and snow this morning...hers, Clifton 6 and mine Hoka 11. Good "rides" from both shoes. No issues from either of us with uppers and feet pretty much dry thanks to the higher mid sole.

I have bought the Clifton 7's and they are ready to take over. So much cushioning on the Hokas, I was into the 700 miles before I even checked the mileage, well impressed. Have my speedgoats for the trail races. Pretty much my go to now after using Asics for many years
