She fell in drymen forest first of all, her hand was swollen up and she bashed knee too. She pulled out st rowardennan and handed in chip but carried on anyway. Was bit of mess after falling agian on stpes down to Snaid. Her hands here ridiculously swollen and she had to get ring cut off

Missed you too Happyg! Not had a chance to read much on here but well done if you had a good day, if you had a pants one then there is always next year :). I was an arse and fell, staved a few fingers that wouldn't move and started to swell then my knee started to swell and I couldn't run downhill which is a bugger after Rowardennan! Didn't want to stop at Rowardennan really but carried on with Siouxie to Inversnaid and got a lift with Santa and whw runner and picked up not much dropped litter on that section so well done runners :). Fell down the 2nd steps at Rowardennan and bumped down a few of them cutting my hand again! Managed 14 miles commute on the bike yesterday to creaky bits are easing off. My turn next with Cateran so I may be a bit busy from now.

Any good pics of the medal and shirt? Found one of the medal from 2011 or something and a folded shirt but that's it. Tempted to have a go at this next year since it's probably not quite as far as the London marathon I'm guessing Also, is this a trail shoe event rather than road running shoes? Was fine in my Asics for the Speyside Ultra last year as a bit of road to run on but not sure whether this is a bit more rugged. |

Well done to MikeR on winning a bronze medal. Scott never ran this route but have walked some of it and it's a lot more rugged than the speyside way. |

The few miles before and then the three miles after Inversnaid are like nothing else I've ever encountered. How the speedy runners make any swift progress over that terrain is a complete mystery to me

Is Speyside relatively quick?

I agree FR, was thinking the same myself. Thankfully SB had pre-warned me as I left her CP otherwise I would have had a very big shock! Even trying to eat/drink on that section is tricky as I needed both hands to get over some of the obstacles. After that section I now have even more respect for SB and anyone else who has completed the full WHW route. I think I need to have another (injury-free) crack at the HF before even thinking about the WHW proper. Sometimes you have to try things yourself before you really appreciate what is involved! |

Scott S I was wearing road shoes on Saturday and only slipped twice but that was in places where i would have slipped in trail shoes as well. Thanks UC! |
