I'm sure it was you, you definitely said they were on their best behaviour. Good to talk to you.
We had the best day out ever! But you did get me thinking about the possibility of doing the full WHW, which is probably a bad thing.

jacdaw, the Fling is the most fun you can have in around 12 hours. It's quite simply a great day out (ok, maybe I wasn't exactly painting that picture by the time I'd got to cow poo alley!).
The WHW, on the other hand, is a whole different, awesome experience. It takes huge planning, training, teamwork, preparation and unimaginable levels of mental resilience. And then a lot of luck to get to the end! The satisfaction of having completed the WHWR is like nothing else, and the feeling of bonding with those that helped you achieve it is very strong. It's also egalitarian, in that equal respect is given to all finishers.
Have I whetted your appetite at all?

I'm trying not to admit it, but you have whetted my appetite.
I now need to convince myself that it is a really bad idea.
I think I am suffering from cognitive dissonance.

Good luck to anyone in for the full WHW race, not sure my body could cope at the moment so won't be tempted for another few years!! I certainly don't think i could wing it on marathon training alone which to my surprise i managed the fling. Maybe if i had trained properly i'd be able to walk today without discomfort:-o
Hope everyone else is recovering well:)

I could run today. No soreness on feet, hips and quads ok, calves were the main problem (cramping horribly from about 30 miles), but that's calmed down. By the way, I'm not running. Oh no. Will be some stretch at gym, foam roller, very gentle swim and some sauna. Reverse of the taper! .
Well done TripletDad again, brilliant to tough it out to the finish. Great mental strength. And what about that woman who broke her jaw in 5 places, then run another 4 miles to the checkpoint before going to A&E to get her mouth wired up? Amazing. M1nty, great to chat to you en route too. And Kynon, great to see you, and shanksi marshalling. I think you can be Mr RWR now that she is Mrs McKynon.
Mrs s, I was saying to weekatiepea on FB that my only disappointment about the entire day was not getting to see all my friends - esp the special ones like you and her. There just weren't enough hours in the day. I will see you at Glenmore 24, possibly 24 times (!) or more, but hopefully before. Well done to you both. x G

Ok, am I being really stupid here or is the new fetch training log being really stupid - I want to see what time my garmin had me coming in to Balmaha and Inversnaid since there is no chip timing mat. Previously on the training log entry you could hover over the google map on the exact spot on the trace that you'd like the information from, and then the graph on the left would show the accumulated time/mileage/pace at that point. Now this information is no longer available?
