What a great day! I managed to nurse my hip around inside the cut-offs and enjoyed the route, the craic and the faultless organisation. I have never seen such slick checkpoint/bag-drop operations or such enthusiastic and supportive marshalling. i took lots of photos along the way, none of which do any justice to the stunning backdrop. Was great to briefly meet HappyG at the start and Santababy at the Inversnaid checkpoint. Thanks to Santa for the much appreciated advice about what was in front of me on the next leg to Bein Glas, with that info I was able to ensure I stayed ahead of the cut-offs despite aggravating my hip and having to walk the last leg to the finish. Just to clarify, 2nd place went to justinm who is on Fetch....an amazing time. Looking forward to hearing how everyone got on.

The Highland Fling Ulltramarthon is simply the best race in the world. There are just many things about it that are truly awesome - too many to list, but let's have a go: Value - how can you get so much for £30 entry? I think the answer is the phenomenal hard work of so many people, mostly JD as RD who puts his heart and soul into the race. Route - amazing, unless you don't like gates or rocks or coo-shit or tree roots. It certainly has lots of variety Goody bag and Finish area - is this better than the UTMB? (genuine question since I've never done that one). Race bubbly, tech t-shirt, chunky medal, race buff. And the finish area red-carpet, bouncy castle (finish arch), beer, soup (best ever), baked potato, showers, massage. Weather - the forecast of doom was wrong, thank goodness. Soent most of the day in just a vest and worried that I'd get sunburnt 53 miles a bit far? Brilliant relay event available too to lure you into the world of ultra-running People - a personal thing maybe, but the whole day was a big party for me.
Well done to everyone that was involved in any way yesterday, running, marshalling, or just hurling abuse at various parts of the Highlands.
(PS didn't have a great race for several reasons and would loved to have been an hour quicker and been able to finish without having to walk into Tyndrum, but hey, you can't have everything)

Spot on _andy. That is exactly my thoughts. Totally biased but I don't think adding all those factors any other race gets close. Highland Fling is #1 in my book.
