Duchess was correct, IanS - I was the one in heels.
And I'll likely be slow and steady from the start, so no pushing to the front for me.

I get frustrated by walking at the start and over compensate. Do this year plan to start in the 11-12 area and run from the start

The usual 20% won't turn up but still a big field. Loulou there are buses laid on for Saturday night and Sunday morning to get runners back. Think that was pre-book. It you fancied a run then parking in Tyndrum and then running up the whw route from there is really nice. The only decent sized car park on the route to meet a runner is Rowardennan but it's a bit of a bugger driving up to. Inversnaid is a total bugger to drive to which is why it's a drop bag point in whw race and not a support crew meeting point.

With the relay runners starting at the same time will they not be aiming to get to the front at the start?? Also how long does the pack take to split over the early miles. This being my 2nd ultra it would be nice to position myself nearer the back and chillax as much as possible through the early miles.
As for drop bags i'll have one at every drop station although may not use them and not sure what i'll put in them. (i have no experience of anything over 32m so no idea of how my body will react) shoes...probably road shoes if i can get away with it but have a pair of nike heavy buggers should i need..
I will be carrying water and SiS hydro+caffine in my water bottles..
I'll be carrying gels/shotblocks
clothes....as little as possible!!
At the moment i'm more concerned with getting my mashed up legs working again so hoping to get back out tomorrow for 3m to ease them up a bit!!

Mrs S - I would love to! And no. Because if I did that again, it would become tradition, and what a hassle that would be!!!

Stoosh - I think you have an hours head start on the relay runners (I think they start at 7am) so you could probably stay ahead of them most of the way
The first one barged past me on Conic Hill last year and it wasn't until later on that the more polite ones started passing (a couple of Strathaven runners had a particularity good line in banter which cheered me up at the time

I have been informed that I will be part of the race day team stationed at Drymen where I will be looking forward to seeing you all safely past the timing mat before heading up to the finish to chuckle at the general deterioration of your collective state. See you all there

I didn't know you were running this year Lintie; yay!
I will be interested to see how many starters there actually are - 800 is eye watering but I can't help remembering the amount of people on the facebook page posting things like "I've only done a 10k before but I've signed up because all my mates have OMG wot have I done?!!!!LOL" and wonder how many of them will have made it to the starting line having completed the requisite training. And then there's the matter of getting to the finish too... Of course within that subsection could possibly be the next Scott Jurek and it's not for me to judge them, but I guess I am.
Mrs_S, WKP and MS - I am on board with your slow and steady train as well. I know there's going to be some tough points so running with my friends and usual training partners will make it a much more enjoyable day! I have so many wonderful memories from last year; it really is the most wonderful race.
