Hi, after doing all training in gales, wind rain, cold I am doing HM this weekend in suddenly forcasted warm weather. I am worried, I was hoping for a good time as all my training has gone well but I dont like running in the heat, I know I will have to readjust my target. Anybody any tips for not overheating/collapsing?

Agree with Hipps, hot weather and running any significant distance is not a great combination.

Use the water stations to put some cold water on your head. Don't worry about the time. Treat the hot day like it's a hillier course and adjust your expectations. Obvious but if there's a shady side of the road run that side for as much as you can. |

Isnt it frustrating though, only doing 1 half this year and prep has gone really well. Last two years I have been injured. Oh well a run in the sun leisurely like it will have to be!

What Mac said. Find another one later in the year. Autumn halfs happen all over the place.

Knowing the British weather there's ever chance it'll be cold and wet Joking apart I agree with the other posters. If it's hot go into survival rather than race mode. Drink plenty, wear a hat if needs be and find whatever shade you can. Some days just aren't racing days |

as already said ease yourself into the run, feeling stronger later, rather than feeling burn out and fried cover up well, especially your head drink well pre race , take a drink from ever water point- pace yourself and keep mentally strong and focused carbo load and fluids Friday onwards - dont do too much Saturday try and rest the body 7 down 5 to go etc, you can crawl the last mile take care |
