Last week I did a 8k jog and about half way round my right hip started to ache. Felt like the hip flexor, I was able to keep going through it. When I finished the jog I stretched it out quite thoroughly. I could feel it aching again at parkrun on Saturday, again I stretched it afterwards. Has anyone got any advice for me on what might be causing this, any good stretches etc?

Hip flexor strain? Had a couple myself, tried to run through one and made it worse.

I had physio at the hospital which showed me some stretches and did bugger all good, the Doctor gave me some strong painkillers which dull it but not much, and then I had sports massage on my ITB and it worked a treat.

I'll ask my dance teacher to show me some more hip stretches and if she's got any suggestions for it. I've also got a sports massage booked for 1st June, so I'll ask her to concentrate on that. Maybe wearing heels all last week was a bad idea!

Cross one ankle over the other when standing and lean to the opposite side of the ankle you crossed. That often helps me.

If my hip flexor starts to play it it is a sure indicatore that my glutes are too tight and so over stretching my hip flexors. Try some glute stretches as well:
