UK Runners Urgently Needed

On 14th May, following 10 months of gruelling training, Alice House Hospice of Hartlepool supporters Lee Dodgson and John Hewitson began their 827 mile attempt to run from Land’s End to John O’Groats, with the aim of raising £40,000 in sponsorship for patient care.

They set themselves a target of 16 days in which to complete this challenge, which meant running 2 marathons every single day for more than two weeks. They set off in high spirits with over half of their massive target already raised, thanks to your support.

Very sadly, after the first half marathon of day 3, John sustained a serious leg injury, rendering him unable to go on and meaning that Lee now faces the remainder of the challenge alone.

Now into Day 4, Lee is now working his way up the country without his running partner, taking whatever the weather throws at him, hurting but with absolute determination to complete the challenge.

Lee needs running partners from anywhere in the country to join him for whatever distance they can. running this distance alone is as emotionally draining as it is physical.

If you can help, or spread the word to recruit support for this hero to get him to John O'Groats, please contact Greg Hildreth at Alice House Hospice on 01429 855529 or email ghildreth@alicehousehospice.co.uk to discuss logistics.

Many thanks
Kevin
