Hello everyone... this is my first post!

I've only recently started running semi-seriously, and am starting to learn about the importance of a strong core and shoulders, among other muscle groups. I'm in my early 20s, but have always had trouble putting on muscle, and weight in general, despite eating enough to feed a family of four every day!

What is the consensus on supplements (protein, creatine etc)? Is it worth the cost in addition to a balanced diet?

Cheers, Paul

Hey Paul...

What kind of stuff do you eat on a regular day and what kind of training do you do?

Hiya welcome to Fetch!

Having once been married to a 'skinny man' I can safely say no matter what he ate and did he stayed skinny.

Current OH takes whey/protein supplements and thinks they help him to gain muscle when combined with appropriate exercise. It is certainly an easy way to take in a couple of thousand extra calories a day if you need them!

My children are both really skinny like their dad - skinny people get no sympathy from society....!

I'd suggest the opposite of what I suggested to someone else earlier today.

Only eat white food, treat yourself to junk often, and drink 80% of your calories. Don't bother filling up with any of that 5 a day stuff. Guaranteed to put on weight then...
