I was just working on a spreadsheet, renamed it via file explorer and now Excel is telling me that the file is corrupt and it won't open it.

Can anyone help with tips on how to get back into it?

How are you opening it ? Via Explorer by double clicking on it or via Excel ?

OK good - Get your friend to open the file and do 'Save As' , save it using another name.

Then send that version back to you - does it open ??

ok , get your friend to open the file then go to File > Check for Issues and select Inspect Document
Repeat this but this time choose Check Compatibility

Then File > Save As , save using another name and send to you
