He was calling the Pope & the Vatican a bunch of hypocrites because they put money into the film about his life. He said that they were happy to make money out of him, but at the same time denouncing homosexuality as a sin against god.

They were one of the “financial institutions” who put money into it, hoping to make a profit in their investment. Apparently, the film racked in a lot of money at the box office, thus giving the Vatican a tidy profit.

They have assets of 4 Bn Euros but they are only making 20-40 Mn Euro profit per year. They'd get more return if they put it into Premium Bonds. Esp if God could choose their numbers.

Lots of low budget productions making healthy profits and getting good numbers. There have even been some cross over releases that grazed the mainstream box office, and if I remember right a tv series about the people left behind after the Rapture that ran several seasons.
