I have a Fenix HP11 head torch and I took it for its first outing this evening. Possibly not the best day/night for a review as it was snowing and raining - snaining. It was a tad like driving in fog. The lower beam didn't help at all and the higher beam bounced back in the woods quite a lot. Would I have benefited using the diffuser? Should I use the diffuser anyway through the woods?

Ah, Ms Chromey! How are you? Yes, the diffuser does help a bit, especially in the mist. I wouldn't normally use it though. The alternative is to take the headtorch off your head and hold in your hand - the angle you hold it at means the bounce-back is less glarey. I had this when we ran up Beamsley Beacon just before christmas - my Alpkit was flppin useless as it doesn't have a diffuser. Should have taken my Petzl. |
