Some of you may know I had a bit of an accident at the weekend whereby my face took the full force of a bike fall and hit the curb. I have among other things some fractures going on in the face. I have a track marathon in a couple of weeks and really don't want to drop out fir a number of reasons. So, my question ...... am I highly likely to cause further serious injury? I asked doctor and of course he predictably said no running, biking, rugby, pole dancing etc etc for at least 4 weeks. Which even if I forfeited my entry to the track marathon that also messes up any training for a double I have in December. I'm just a bit of a cheapskate and hate losing entry fees. Your thoughts? Any of you ever had a similar situation? What did you do? Cheers, Nici x |

That picture is taken straight on so you can see how large the left side of my lower face is in comparison. I'm thinking if I load up on pain pills, put adequate walk breaks in, and flirt with the RD I should be ok? |

Then the sensible side go me says a DNS now (and December) is better than the damage it might cause. Hmmmmmmmm PH .... you have now made me pause because I do indeed know you would run on one leg if you had to. Hmmmmmmm |

That looks like a seriously sore face. I reckon your doctor wasn't just being a typical doctor but is actually right and you shouldn't be planning to run for the next few weeks. |
